Crocodile scale, turtle section??? any ideas?? Value??

Hello, I picked this up recently and I believe it's a scale from a crocodile or a turtle shell section. Any experts?? It came from a Florida marsh if that helps. Also have a tooth pictured as well, is it a horse or camel or my mother-in-laws dentures?? Thanks in advance

Looks like a alligator scute and a horse tooth to me, but I'm no expert.

No help on the tooth, a friend told me how to tell the difference, but I have forgotten, (Oldtimer's disease) LOL .

Mother-n-laws, can't live with tem and the wife wont let you kill them. Luckly I get along with both my wife and her mother. Thanks for the info.

alligator mississippiensis bony armour and Equus (horse) upper molar. keep in mind this was a horse that dissapeared here in Fla. Recent horses were brought by the spanish...

where abouts in Fla. ? (if you dont mind me asking...just curious.)

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to make sure we get a positive ID on the scute in the first picture. It's actually Giant Armadillo Dermal scute (Holmesina septentrionalis or floridanus). The picture is kind of deceiving on it... It makes it look like the ridge on the top is a bit larger than it really is. I'll attach a photo of one almost identical to it, ridge and all.

I love finding those... Gives me a different feeling to find something that belonged to someone I know is extinct now.
