I decided to go out MDing for a little bit after work along the old tote road even though it was raining.. I didnt really have any luck.. untill I had a good hit and my ATPro was reading 99 strong! I thought for sure I was gonna be pulling up a nice big silver coin! But... instead I found what looked to me like just another tin can all crunched up, I thought maybe there was something inside it though for sure! So I put it into my bag and continued on. But after I got home and straightened it out some, nothing. :icon_scratch:

But I did the ice cube test on it, melted pretty fast! So its looking like it must have at least some silver in it?! Its pretty dirty as you can see also. I have no idea what it is, its a long shot but maybe someone will be able to figure out what it was! Looks like some sort of a crinkled up cup with the side ripped out. Iunno.

*Also in the pics it looks like its rusty, but there is absolutely no rust on it, just caked on dirt

Howdy Zach,

Welcome to this place, and thanks for showing your crinkly find. It reminds me of my old Thermos topper/cup.

I'm gonna go with that, didn't even think about a thermos top! I just wonder why that sucker has such a high reading on the detector. Strange.

You will get those high readings with all kinds of aluminum cans - that doesn't mean you've necessarily got silver.

Spent 30 years drinking coffee out of one of those. Retired at 65, and the thermos and cup have spent 11 years sitting on top of the water heater.

Looks like the OP's thermos got a might too hot on it's water heater! :laughing7:
