Well, hello again folks, was gone for a bit, but back now!
I was CRHing before we left the US a year ago, but, as we moved to Okinawa and started life again, I let it slip. I know, I know, the bug is hard to ignore, but I had resigned myself to the fact that there wouldn't be much I could do here, as there are limited places in which to search. I was very spoiled in Vegas, as the casinos were a great place to buy and to dump. I had protected my coin folders and collection as best I could and shipped it over here. Luckily all went well and it arrived before we did. But it was put away in the box I shipped it in, and quickly(purposely) forgotten.
Then a strange thing happened.
I found 2 war nickels in one day in my pocket change!!
Then a 64 rosie the next!
Well, that bug mentioned above bit me again, big time!
Things are a little different here as far as US change goes. On island there are over 20,000 US service members on many different bases, all of the bases use US cash, or Yen. BUT, no pennies!! That is right, no pennies. All the venders on base round to the nearest nickel, and give change from there. AND, no HALVES! {gasp} Now, the bank still runs into some occasionally, but they are bought up quickly. And you find the occasional penny on the ground while on base, but that is about it.
So I decided to search nickels and dimes, even though they are not as productive as those Halves we all love to buy. I went to the BofA, which has a branch on most bases, and decided to give it a go again.
So here are the first results of that search.
I only bought a little to start, as my CRHing fund has to build itself up again..
Out of $100 dimes, nada.
Out of $20 in nickels, 2 more war silver!
So not a complete skunk
Well, wish me luck, you will be seeing me again, hopefully with some better keepers 8)
