Hello to all,

Found this at an old houseplace. It is copper beneath and plated with something very shiney.
Thanks for looking. Reminds me of a military boot heel piece. Any help appreciated.

Looks like the tightening slide for a belt driven something. Like alternator, power steering pump, AC pump. You can see the scar from a nut on the left end. Or an adjustment for some tool.

I stand corrected and always glad to learn. 1902 it is.

Another stellar ID from the good folks at Treasurenet. Great work Anduril!

Using the last numbers of the year was VERY common in the last half of the 1800's and first few decades of the 1900's..... and VERY few items are marked with actual Pat'd dates since the 30's... that's 1930's. I found a head to a razor at a WWII Army Airfield with a patent date of 39' if I recall correctly. That's the latest item I ever saw with an actual date, and not just a
Patent Applied For" .... "Patent pending" .... or "Patent #xxxxx".
