I finally got brave enough (and the weather got warm enough) to try my BH Quick Silver in a creek. I must have spent an hour trying to unearth what I was just SURE was a Civil War bullet. I had to wiggle loose several rocks that had roots growing around them, but the signal was coming from beneath them. (I really am impressed with my Quick Silver for the price!) When I eventually got all the rocks moved and carefully sifted out the silt from around my target, I was surprised to find a flat piece of iron about the size of a deck of cards. My guess is that it was an ax head or part of a plow. I scanned the target area one more time and heard another signal and did a little more digging. It turned out to be an crushed aluminum cup--maybe from a Scout's mess kit! My arms ache from all the digging and wiggling I had to do, but I had fun, learned some more about what my MD can do, and I didn't fall in the creek! Maybe next time I'll try singing a couple of Civil War songs while I dig, since I have learned that the 1st Kentucky (Federal) Volunteers were camped along the creek from January until June 1864. Goober Peas, anybody?
