Howdy Folks. I was planning on swinging a permission down the road from my house after work. I was approached by a neighbor who lets me hunt his property. He lost a hearing aid and wondered if I could find it. I asked if he had another one identical to the lost one so I could match signals. We headed to the spot he thinks he lost it. Two foot tall grass. I tried to swing it but, it wasn't working. He got his old Oliver tractor and mowed it down. I tried again but, no luck. He took me for a short drive in his old Willies Jeep to show me some more of his property. There's a creek running through his property which looks like a great spot to hunt metal. As we approached the creek in his Jeep he kept inching forward and then down right into the creek. I figured he knew what he was doing and that the old Willies had some serious mudding potential. Well, what he thought was a rock bottom creek bed was about one foot of mud.
He tried desperately to rock that old jeep out of that creek and darn near did so and even with highway tires. He ended up going back and getting the Oliver to pull the jeep out of the creek. I got a tad bit muddy but, had a real thrill watching this old boy give that old jeep HELL trying to get her unstuck. LOL! I got to drive the old Willies back to the shop so he could rinse off the evidence. So my plans were a bit sidetracked tonight but, I scored some more information and places to hunt that I was unaware of. Also had fun in the jeep. Thanks and ya'll have a good evening. Kurios1

No brewskies. Slows down my Ninja fast reflexes while recovering can slaw. Also I was expecting some commentary from you concerning a certain "nature" pic.:dontknow:

oh? don't tell me he was peeing
I have to use both hands because of the weight

as far as senior citizen, how old is he? and you?

What? No pictures of the Oliver? ;-)

Watch what you say about senior citizens. We didn't get old by being weak and stupid.

Bummer about the hearing aid. But if it was a 5' mowing deck there probably wasn't enough left to give a signal. The blades lift little stuff up and mulch them. Like 5 pound rocks. BLAM! tinkle, tinkle, tinkle.

I am 56 and I reckon a guess at around early to mid 80's for my neighbor. He can jam those gears and dump that clutch as fluidly as a teenaged zombie can send texts on an I-Phone!:headbang:

Sorry, I missed capturing the old Oliver. It's a real nice relic of a mower for him. Now it's even a command vehicle recovery unit!:headbang: I don't think he really knows exactly where he lost it and it was lost this spring. Hard telling if I do ever find it if it will still work being out in the weather for several months. Some day I will get you ALL the classic tractor pictures you can handle. I know lots of good ole' boys who collect them like baseball cards. Also NO disrespect for the aged by calling them crazy. Aren't you a metal detectorist and therefore crazy by definition? If not then you are one of the rare breed of treasure hunters. All the ones I know are at least a bit crazy. I like crazy and I is crazy.

I am old enough and well enough established to have earned the label "eccentric" instead of "crazy". :tongue3:

Here's my neighbor de-ditcher and brushhog puller.

That is a SWEET old Jeep and in really nice shape! I would have been asking to buy it off him!

Once I was young and foolish. Now..... I am just old and foolish. ╦╦Ç

I am only 53 and get the truck stuck on a regular basis... I can only wonder what the future hold for me.

Looks like the mantis got what he was praying for....

(I believe this to be the "nature" comment you are seeking)

Good luck brother!

Sounds like a great time with more ahead. Love that jeep, its in great shape for its age.

Love the old 8 N Ford I believe. Once I hit 60 or so I may have to adjust to being eccentric or peculiar. As long as I can outwork and outplay most kids in their prime I'll proudly stick with being crazy. I dig you Charlie. Looks like a nice spread ya' got there.:icon_salut:

I don't think this family heirloom will ever get sold off outside the family. He told me the story of when he purchased it way back in 50-something. I believe he is the original owner or close to it. Anyhow it's been in the family for well over a half century. Still runs like a WILLIES!!!

CHA CHING! Nice you noticed the nature shot of the next generation coming into being. I love life's little blessings like that. I am still incredibly hard on vehicles. Drive too fast push them harder than I should but, try not to get stuck but, still do in the snow mostly. I won't be driving through that muddy creek bed passage. There are some nice flat limestone chunks just downstream I might start layering in that spot as I detect the creek. Heading there right now.:icon_thumright:

Cool post and pictures! Looks like you had an awesome time playing in the dirt!

Thanks RG. I knew the creek ran through this area but was uncertain who actually owned the property as the old boy just sold the house and some land right next to this. Now I know the area I can hunt and the creek is open season. Going to head there today to do some exploring. :hello:
