Crazy River.

Well it looks like my sluicing season will start early lol. I went to my claim 2 weeks ago to poke around and the River was dry. We have had no measurable Rain or snow that's the driving force to feed this crazy River and boom today it looks like this. I know the Mojave River goes underground so I finally found a Map that shows where it pops out about 300 yards up river. Good luck everyone this year and next.

Go's underground huh no telling how deep it go's huh..... thinking that gold is heavy and it go's under ground near you I wonder how much gold has been deposited in that underground River ? any chance that section of land is UNCLAIMED It may be worth checking into !!

Hi Dizzy lol I have not turned any big boulders. I should do that in late summer and have it ready to Sluice in the Winter TY.

It sure the heck is on my claim the mouse arrow is where it comes up lol. Maybe I should do some testing where it comes up. I have never looked around that area I always thought it came up miles away from my claim.

It could be your lucky day............. And I'm assuming your claim is in Cal. and that means permits and other paper work for you IF California will allow it ! where that water goes underground it will hopefully become a nugget trap , BUt then again the slow trickle of that stream may turn into a high pressure spot and blow the gold up further into and still on your claim ! GOODLUCK in your checking it out !

Yes I am up to date on my Maintenance fees in CA. I am sure its a high pressure spot that little River has moved some impressive boulders all over the place lol. TY for your response.

I usually find 6-10 colors just running 2 buckets taking material 3 ft up the bank from the river and only 10-20 inch deep but I would like to see a lot more color for all the digging I do.

Do you mean you're finding 6-10 colors per pan, or total of the two buckets? What size are these colors? 10 mesh? 50 mesh?

Hit up one of those big boulders, and dig an area, as wide as the boulder base, directly behind it in line with the water flow. I would work it back to as much as 6 ft. from the boulder.

Then, I would find a way to roll or move a manageable sized boulder and then dig out everything it was sitting on.

BTW, anybody still working the E. Fork of the San Gabriel?

Just a idea if you start to find a small group or pile of the same boulders mite be a good spot to dig around?
Maybe start to track upwards of 30 - 80 colors?

Not bad. Try digging near any out of place boulders and see what happens?
Maybe the specks will get a little larger?
