Cow horn?

I believe I have a North American Indian cup. It was part of a vast collection of spearheads, points, beads etc. from the town Kennett, which is now under lake Shasta in northern California. I assume it is a buffalo or cow horn???

I found a Google pic that was similar and see they are worth 2K on up. But one was English with a clipper type ship (scrimshawed) on it.

There are a lot of scratch marks inside from a half inch from the rim downward, like it was cleaned with dirt.

It has a near perfect hole at the top. The base is Birch or something with a very fine grain.

There are letters all around the bottom. I am not sure where it starts but here they are.

[first word] R - (or an oval with two legs) - (backwards B) - l - O

[second word] CERRO

[third word] ACOJTOLDE

On the top rim, all the way around the horn starting at the hole, is..

[PARA EL U ("N" CANT REALLY SEE IT") O DE RAEMONIDO EJPI[

PARA EL UNO DE RAEMONIDO EJPI

I appreciate any info, and I am glad I found this wonderful site!

P.S. Evedentally my pics are too big for this site, I have the pic viewer program Faststone. How can I resize or make the pics so I can post them?

Just put the pic in your picture editor, click on edit, and make it 25% or whatever to make it small enough. I would like to see it. Sounds like Mexican or Spanish made cup.

Thanks for the advice, I see how to post the pics now.
I really hope someone knows about it!

Hello Mitchsmiles and welcome to Tnet,

Your horn cup does not appear to be Native American, but rather Mexican. The wording at the top, "PARA EL UNO DE RAEMONIDO EJPI." translates.... "FOR HIM ONE OF RAEMONIDO EJPI."

I appreciate the translation, now I will look into who Raemonido Ejpi is.

There is a Gila Monster and a Leopard on it, are those found in Mexico?
