Dug this from a field that hasn't seen any livestock for a long time. Older than the first one I found,missing the knocker inside but the ring that holds it is good. 001 (3).JPG

That is cool. My mom and dads neighbor had a farm that was started before the civil war and had dairy cows. Would love to find one of those there.
 

Pretty neat.We still "Bell",our cows(at least the older mother cows)when we move them to the high country on the summer range....sure makes the Fall gather easier!!

Back in about 1960 had some belled horses get away over night up at the Margaret Lakes. Spent hours chasing down bells only to find cows each time. The was a Yaqui Indian fellow working for the outfit, and he rode in 20 miles, tracked the horses across bare granite and came out with 'em on the same day. He sure had my attention and respect. I lost them in the granite and was chasing sound.
