These items were found at separate sites.

First is what i feel like is a trench art bracelet from one lover to another during the liberation of New Guinea in 1943 during WW2. Was found at a cellar hole that may have been occupied up into the mid 20th century. I believe its made from aluminum and was shaped into a bracelet with hears at either end, the date 1943, words New Guinea, and the lovers initials. Any other ideas?

Second is half a large circular item. Its not really rusty, and is quite heavy. Hoping its half a cannon ball, but maybe just poured lead. Any Ideas? also found at a cellar hole.

Thanka DDF. Wasnt sure what to make of the bracelet initially. I was looking at it again today and it dawned on me that I should probably see what was going on in 1943 in New Guinea, since that was WW2 years, and I come across the wikipedia outlined US and allied forced in New Guinea pushing out the Japanese. So I turned to you folks who know relics and history better than myself and see what opinions are out there. Thank you for the reply!

As you suspected, your "half-cannonball?" is just the discarded leftover impure lead from the bottom of the melting-crucible. Being found in a cellar-hole suggests it was left over by the plumber who was using the lead to seal the joints in the house's cast-iron sewage drainpipes.

That bracelet is really cool! It's a sweetheart piece AND trench art too, the best of both worlds! I think I would try to find a W.S. in local records who was in the Pacific during the war, you may be able to track down a family and get the story behind it.
