Edmond, OK
Detector(s) used
MineLab e-Trac, Garrett Ace250, SunRay X-1, ProPointer
I have a MXT300 and have only hunted with it a few times since I bought it and I am wondering if I did something wrong. My setup is the 5.3 eclipse using the preset indicator settings and just the start of chatter noise. I also have a Sunray DX-1 probe installed.

How close to the metal supports should I be able to get before the detector sounds off? What would be a good setup for hunting tot-lots? I tested this out with an ACE 250 that I have and with it, I can get within a few inches of the supports where as with the MXT I could only get within about a foot or more leaving a larger area that would not read correctly.

So I am asking for ideas and help.

Thanks
Phil

Correct !! That is exactly why I use my ACE 250 in tot lots . So I can cover more ground I use my MXT in larger areas fields , desert , or woods.

the MXT is way to sensitive to get close to metal posts, when you get close, try to double click your pinpoint

OK, I will give that a try but what will this do? I would think that it would cause the PP mode to go nuts :dontknow:...

Thanks!

it's supposed to reset your pinpoint so that you can get closer in all metal mode

You can lower the SENS setting. Since most coins will be within the 3-4 inch depth range ,you will be able to get closer to the metal poles and fence lines.

With my M6 you have to turn the sens way down, I'm sure the MXT is no different. I also use an excelerator 6"DD coil, so I can run right close to the metal pipes and such. Your machine is more than capable to do anything you want, just adjust accordingly (and the ACE250's constant belltone won't be driving you nuts!!!). Good luck

Greg

Thanks for all the input and ideas. I have not had a chance to get out and try them all yet, but I should be able to get out in the next couple of days to try them...

Thanks!
Phil
