FYI That first piece is a part of a turtle shell (the top middle part of the shell I think?)! Now I don't know if it was used by natives or not but I find TONS on the river. The first time I found one I thought it looked like a hair beret made of bone then someone pointed out what it was.
I think the other looks like petrified wood but can't be sure ???.
Cool finds though!

Definitely fossil on the first one. I just don't see that being part of a turtle or alligator. Looks more like a tooth or tusk to me. You should put it on the fossil page. The second may be a core of fossilized wood.

Just a sample of what I find on rivers in KS!

Thanks D . Found in a shelter. Im sure it was used for something. Just dont know what. Ive never seen a turtle with that. Is it a part of the shell or foot or where?

Demon is correct. The first picture is a piece of turtle shell. We find those by the hundreds on our Ft Ancient sites.
