couple of similar brass what-its (??)

I found these in separate fields a couple years apart - the most recent one (the less "bomb" looking one) I found in a sparse field that had a couple tombac buttons - any ideas(?) - they look cast - no attachment points - found in Western Massachusetts

They both are classic designs for drop drawer pulls .. My guess would be just that.
