Please show a picture of the back of the do and a picture with a coin between the do and the dad so we can have a size reference.

Looks like a Navy button to me. We'd need the backmark to narrow down the year and use. Measure the diameter too.

based on your pic, are you suggesting the metal twisted thing fits into the bottle?

The button is a Regulation-1941-to-present) US Navy button. Yours is shown in the Albert button-book as button NA-121B, anchor fluke is below the eagle's wing.
