Doesn't quite qualify as today's finds...but qualifies as today's discoveries. Once the weather gets cold and I don't get out as much, I take the time to tumble all the clad found throughout the year, roll it up and trade for cash to buy more batteries. But I take the time to look through them just to make sure nothing interesting goes unnoticed. This years clad had a couple of gems.
Came across this 1970-S small date. Not in the best shape, but given I have been searching my change for decades for one, and the fact I found it with a detector, I'll certainly take it.
This one's a bit more interesting. Missing a digit in the date. Not sure if it is a minting error like a grease strike, or if someone removed the digit to fake an error. I can't see evidence of the missing digit, though the patina may be making it hard to see. The weak Liberty also makes me wonder if it is a grease strike.
