tried to hook up with some of the "field of dreams" guys - but everyone was busy
did run into PeteWmass and hunted with him for a few hrs - but other than that I was solo
got some old stuff - got some new stuff - got a lot of junk stuff
nothing spectacular - but was glad to get out - and the older stuff is a good sign
there could be some more good stuff out there -
DSC00001.JPG
got 2 coppers - both toast - one on left was found in dirt road - I belive its a KG
the other was way out where I got nothing - about 200yrds from my jeep -
I walked in a straight line towards my vehicle - got a blast - kicked at the corn husks
target disappeared - check around and got a blast - thought it would be a shotgun shell
saw green disc - I believe this one is a LC
DSC00007.JPG
coin to the right of copper is an indian head - beat (believe its a copper-nickel variety cause of way it went off and its condition)
coin to left is a Merc - other 3 are lincolns
DSC00008.JPG
lead bale seal - silver cufflink - and what I believe is a copper arrow head
DSC00006.JPG
left is a rosette - some flat buttons - few musket balls (one is a biggie)
DSC00009.JPG
some misc. - large knob thing ??? (it rang off as a silver dollar and was down about a foot and a half)
- cane or walking stick handle ?
middle object I believe is a ring
on right - looks like a musketball that someone put a square nail thru

and the trash

Large and interesting assortment of relics there Casper. Very nice hunt!

That's a huge pile of targets, no doubt with that much stuff including spoons, knobs, Silver cufflinks that there is no doubt something real good there. AND you should have most of the "junk" picked up. I like it when the ground is noisy.

Not a shabby day out at all, a very nice assortment of finds for a day out in the field. Jeez I'd be happy with finding the sink plug right about now.:)

I wonder how old that sink plug is - its heavy bronze

Looks like you did pretty good. Can't make it this coming weekend either. Hopefully the next.

You didn't try me, so it was you I saw yesterday? I brought my dog there for a walk, as I forgot to bring the battery's for my detector I put 2 of them in my GPS when I went dear hunting and forgot to put them back in detector! You looked right at me and I was wondering who is this guy detecting here? Remember the big white box truck?

That's a real good haul! Silver cufflink is definitely old and any one of those targets could have been a show stopper! Keep pounding!

Nice assortment of goodies. A silver cuff link would certainly make my day. Congrats.

That's a lot of digging! Congrats on the silver cuff link and other relics, IH's, LC, Merc, etc. :icon_thumleft: I have yet to find one of those lead seals. And thanks for showing all your junk too. (It gives newbies a better idea of a realistic hunt.)

Digging lots of old targets is what gives you the chance, WTG!

I got one of those copper arrowheads with a hole in the middle of it...not too far from where we were....also a couple rolled copper points way in the back.....contact period stuff...always a good sign!

when I was younger (like 17 =1980)- knew a guy from a detecting club
he was into searching for indian artifacts he had a huge collectin from new england fields - he had a few copper triangle points
he said a lot were made from colonial coppers - the Indians would hammer the coppers down and then cut them or bend them
I remember he had one that you could still see part of KG head on it
I remember asking if he found them with a detector - he said no - he just saw them stick out of the ground
I asked him - don't you bring your machine with you - he said no - I said -"well if there are those out there and they
are made from coins they probably traded for - don't you think there could be more coins out there and points?"
I think he took his machine out after that
I got to wonder if he could have going to this same field I got mine at

Nice group of finds...looks like you were busy digging..that's a lot of targets...congrats

I would like finding any one of those relics! That is quite a haul! I hope you own stock in Bayer ! Makes my knees hurt just looking at all that! Congrats! HH!

Nice finds! I have a rubbermade tote full of stuff from those fields that I haven't even had a chance to sort through. It gets ahead of you detecting those fields, many goodies go unnoticed in the random bits of metal bin. Best advice I can give is let it build up from a few trips and this winter start sorting out the good stuff!
That copper arrowhead is pretty interesting. I have seen those posted before, must have either been Colonial or made from trade copper. The native copper implements I have seen from the area are much different in design and manufacture. Wicked cool
