Counterfeit

I dug up this counterfeit Szechuan silver dollar Sunday down on South Beach. It's silverplated steel. Thereal ones were made 1890-1912, the first machine struck Chinese silver coin. These are highly sought after right now and some varieties or die errors are quite valuable. Counterfeits, from what I've read, are rampant. I imagine that some guy having learned he was ripped off, threw this one in the ocean.

Another fake, same day. Imagine seeing this goldplated ring and 2 carat CZ in your scoop.

I can imagine it, very exciting! Nice finds.

Yeah, I know the disappointment. I found a fake diamond engagement ring when searching what had been a doctors vacation cabin on the river. I figured the doc must have been a real cheap skate, taking gullible girls out to his cabin for nefarious purposes. That ring in your scoop would be a real heart thumper for sure.

Two fake finds scaupus - what are the odds!

The ring might have me going for a few minutes-- I've learned not to count my gold before it gets under the microscope at home! As for the coin-- I see hundreds of them every time I go to the flea market. Interesting you say yours is silver plated steel. I thought they were a tin alloy. Is yours magnetic?

I have a fake coin just like that and its also silver plated steel. stinks don't it? :BangHead:
