Everything at our thrift store was half off today! Woke up early and went to get in line and there was about 100 people in line. From experience though everyone goes there to buy clothing. There was one other guy had jewelry and I was after him. This is what I got for $228.

All the sterling is designer signed. 16.4 grams of 14k gold. I've got to stop buying!!!

We made friends with a jeweler. All the gold is getting melted and made to nicer pieces. He charges $4/ piece that he makes he makes! If we bring the gold. So I will post a finished product next week.

If you get $30 a dwt you should make about a hundred bucks
Nice find!

Nice find!
Plus the silver!

Isabella1- Your lucky to have all that available at your thrift. You just don't see that around here. A piece of missed sterling every now and then, that's about it. I did find a nice 14+ gram 10k ring last weekend though for pennies on the dollar at a sale.

They use to sell gold under spot. But that's when it was $1800/ oz. now it's dropped and the prices are still the same. So I just wait til the sales days and go. A lot of times they pull it though. They get a lot of designer signed sterling that just sells a little above scrap. Sometimes it's a miss, some times it's awesome! There is a lot of other good stuff but if i keep going there and getting it all, I'll be a horder for sure.... Yard sales are such a better deal. This store has people all day long buying stuff for eBay. Always looking at their phones and looking up things. That's good for business though, I can't stand the ones that get it for free then either have the eBay print outs buy it, or over price everything like they want to keep it..

There are plenty of professional thrift store lurkers around here. They've been thrown out of the store before at one location. I caught one guy, his wife actually, stuffing a piece of glassware in her purse not too long ago. White, middle aged couple driving a fairly new Mustang, go figure. I'm doing a new Marshall's dept store down "in the hood" at the moment. There are 3 very large thrifts right in that shopping center. I mean large, full, Wal-Mart sized thrifts. I am going to check them out this week coming up. Some of my better thrift finds have come from the not so good areas of town. I have yet to find a thrift down here that does fine jewelry in any kind of volume at all though. Good luck.
