I think its an emerald but I'm not sure. There is some green showing in small spots in a few places.

Thanks for any help.
 

It looks like it's in schist? Is that right? As we all know, schist happens. Do you know where it came from? Emerald is very hard and comes (primarily) in crystal form. If it is soft could be green fluorite, but fluorite generally cleaves (splits along crystal planes). Chrysoprase is a green variety of quartz. Hardness about 7. Emeralds from the US are found in North Carolina.

What you have is a emerald in matrix of a biotite mica schist. Nice specimen.
