This has left us scratching our heads. Is it a seed pod or an egg with a small creature inside?

Cadburry Caveman Easter Egg.

Image taken with a tape measure would help.

The round ball structure looks like a hematite concretion. Where was this found?

Depends on where it was found. If Montana, maybe a fossil. If eastern Pennsylvania, go with a fossilized seed pod from the Pennsylvanian period. All depends on location.

Where would I sell this and does it have any value?

1st - I noticed this was your very first post CONNERS - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I moved this thread from HELP! over to Forum: What Is It? for more exposure.

It would be fairly easy to test the outside to see if it was hematite (iron based) concretions.

A steak test on porcelan will be red. Hematite is not magnetic, so if the item is magnetic, it is not hematite

Not an egg IMO, I'm leaning towards a seed pod from a gymnosperm. Probably Mississippian or Pennsylvanian era carboniferous period.
