Could someone tell me what this is???????

Found this and was hoping someone could tell me what it is, i put it in a previous post but didnt get any replies so maybe if i give it its own post it might garner more looks..... i think its a plate from a pocket knife, the site is pre-civil war, and doesnt show up on maps as early as 1908, so the home was long gone 100 years ago.

My guess is a straight razor made by the American Knife Company. They were in business from 1849-1875.
