Snapshot_20120629.webpI found this today but it is so corroded i cannot find any markings

You need a much clearer picture, it looks like a cap gun from what I can see in the pic, is it real? If so it could be an Colt Single Action Army, (Peacemaker) Is the barrel broken off or rusted away?

There are a LOT of copies out there, it should have a serial number on the bottom of the grip, and look closely at the left side under the cylinder for any markings there.

what are the grips made of? that can help narrow it down unless at some point they were made by the owner. Also, does it look like the barrel has been cut off or removed?

did a little research, by comparing your hazy picture (upload a better one if you can) It looks like you may have found a 19th century Colt Single Action Revolver... that is provided that the barrel on this one is missing.

I'm not sure it's a real pistol, I see part of the barrel missing, it's to thick to corrode away and still have the hammer intact, handle is another ?

Cap gun, after looking closer at the pic, the face of the hammer is flat (no firing pin) Also for the barrel AND the ejector rod are both broken off..... I'm certain from what I can see that it's a cap gun, better pics are needed
