I'm at one of my stops and notice old penny wrappers with some writing on them. $3 of solid 1970's labeled rolls. Manager tells me they were from the bank, they picked them up on Friday, and here it is Monday morning. So I go to the bank and ask them about the penny's with write on them. "Oh yes we have lots of them". They would only let me buy $50 but that's ok, I only had $50 anyway. A quick look at just the ones with writing, 7 solid wheat rolls, 4 rolls with 83 - 98, a bunch with dates threw the 70's and a few with 59 - 83. The rest, nothing but looks like mostly copper just spot checking. I was thinking about getting rid of my copper hoard, not I'm not sure......thanks.

Congrats, looks like you scored $50 in pennies....

Hopefully that roll of "1955 plain wheats" is a solid roll of '55 doubled dies

Nice score Barney! Why wouldn't they let you buy more? Maybe buy a box some where and bring it to the bank and trade them for more rolls? HH, Maverick.

All those wheat rolls reminds me of back in the mid-50's my dad use to run a "Penny Pitch" play board booth at our church carnival. He'd go to the bank a day before opening day and get $35. worth of pennies. Back then everything was wheaties, cuz there was nothing else to compare them to, and as the nights wore on, all the coin change being exchanged for pennies was ALL SILVER COINS. Had I only have known 60-years ago. Yea, right. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
