Certainly looks like it's been in some heat!

I don't know what it is, except that it's not a meteorite. The interior broken area shows dozens of vesicles. You would never find those in a meteorite.

If it was found a long way from any indistrial activity (past or present) and not in an area where there could have been slag or coke dumping in the past then it must be of volcanic origin.
