Yesterday posted this in the cleaning/preservation forum. So far have soaked the disc in some olive oil and the orange/rusty look has changed to a blackened look, which would be expected from old silver coins (I'm pretty sure it's silver). The orange color may also be due clay soil in NC.
Appears to be several cleaning methods/opinions on what's best and it probably depends on what's being cleaned and which condition it's in.
What's your thoughts based pictures and find location, could it be a cob?
Any recommendation on continued cleaning method?
