I bought accusound by detector pro head phones and all my targets seemed to be a dull low tone. They were worse sounding than the head phones that came with the detector when I bought it.I have been frustrated even the first day I used them.Today I got a v.d.i. reading of 39 and dug it and it was a 1946 nickel and that did it I called and told them they was something wrong with the headset and they said they will test them out so I shipped them back.I also told them I don't want them back that I'd rather pay more money to get a better set.I use a DFX so the v.d.i. should have been +19 +20 and not +39.Do you think the head set could cause this problem?I also unpluged the head phones and went over the nickel and and it read + 20.

Just a total guess here.....maybe some part the head phone was not properly insulated and some how a minor magnetic Field disrupted the signal from the coil to the processor causing the coil signal to be altered. It would not take much to corrupt the result given on your display.
