I'm pretty sure that is a marker that went on telephone poles. But I'm positive it is not a Rev War button. What's the back look like?
I thought a marker to show age of railroad ties. But can’t see the back. They look like copper nails with numbered heads

It is definitely a button.
I think some European countries used buttons with numbers like that if I remember correctly, but they are fairly modern.
 

Agreed, not Rev War, not a button & was a numbered marker used on various items. (Like windows)

Window tacks.
One was nailed to the window sill and the same number was put on the storm window and the same number tack on the wooden frame of the screen. That way they would get the storm window and screen in the correct opening.

Or a date nail .. Hard to know without seeing the back.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't able to find it- but yea- it looks like those.

Love this hobby...learn new stuff all the time.
