I have a very large Corundum crystal.
The crystal is 4" long and 1" in dia.
It has had nothing done to it in any way.
I did have the stone X-RAYED to see if there were any flaws-there was not a single one.
I have been using this stone as a paperweight but now I want to see this Stone polished.
Is there anyone here that can do this type of work.
I have a few other stones that I can give for the work-like a 1000 carat Black Sapphire that I picked up from Sierra Leone West Africa while I was looking for Diamonds. The Black Saphire has all the 6 sides and was polished by nature. I also have a few WHITE SAPPHIRES that weigh over 500 carats each.
These came from the Himalaya Moutains of Tibet.
I can send a scan if anyone is interested.
Thanks

Sure I would love to see some pics! 8)
As for polishing the stone: (Corundum) it has the hardness of 9/10 so it's pretty hard...
Maybe a tumbler with diamond compound?
Or talk to a geologist store/club. Even a jewellery might help I think?? ???

Not entirely sure why you want to polish an outstanding xtal of that size. If it is flawless it could be cut into numerous fine faceted stones, or maybe just 2 super fine emerald cut rectangles.

Would love to see some pics though, sounds like you have a fine collection!

Never had much luck doing lap work myself...couldn't even get my raw topaz collection to tumble properly. I read some where years ago about over seas companies doing this sort of work...either for cash or in trade for part of the stone. Check the classifieds of Lapidary mags.
