🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Corps Badge???

I detected a Union camp this weekend and found plenty of bullets, several j-hooks, and other CW relics. The one item that has me stumped is this diamond shaped pin. There certainly was a fastener on the back to attach to something.
I know very little about corps badges, but the shape and the site where it was found gives me a little hope. Thanks for any info/input.-- JB

The US 3rd Corps had a diamond shaped badge. That said, its pretty hard to tell a badge from horse furniture.

As said there was a triangular badge, here's color template for the badges. I couldn't tell you if this is a uniform badge, horse furniture or an insert from a pocket knife.

I have a rosette from the Civil war that is similar. Research has shown that generally federal soldiers would buy these types of items from sutlers and wear them on the Kepi or uniform. Confederate soldiers seldom had more than company insignia. Whether it is a rosette or badge can be determined by weight. It’s a neat find either way!
