Copperhead, Axehead, and Arrowhead - Mother's Day hike

Copperhead, Axehead, and Arrowhead...WOW my HEAD is spinning now! So my mother in law is staying with us for Mother's Day and I decided to go for a hike after brunch, get out of the house! You know! Surprised by a copperhead, and next found an axe head near an old tree. The best was the Guilford Period spearpoint I spotted on a gravel bed along a creek. Here are some IN SITU pics...

Ah, Uncle NoShoulders. It is about that time of the year. Really good looking point. As soon as some gravel bars are exposed around here I plan on checking them out.

Thanks for sharing. When those copperheads are lying in the leaves they blend in so well that you can't see them. Extremely easy to get bit by those rascals.

Luv all three!

Very nice finds. Thanks for not harming the snake.

Um . . . I think that snake has officially been HARMED. If not, SOS is CRAZY to take that close-up shot. That is a beautiful beast, but I'd have whacked him too, if he's anywhere near populated areas.

What a beautiful arrow point!

I saw the post title and debated whether to open it or not. I hoped that copperhead was perhaps metal detecting slang for something other then a snake. Just the photo gave me goosebumps. Lord I hate snakes! I did see a black snake the other day right in the path I was detecting. I found about a 10' branch and sort of moved him away. Normally I would have Lesched him to death but because I was able to identify him and realize his benefits I spared him.

Cool pics was that a pic of the Mom in Law or the snake?LOL just kidding that is one evil looking snake and they blend in so well. That is one very nice point.

Ya, you don't want to take your first find home to "mom"
The others are good!

Glad I didn't find him, or I might have been tempted to catch him.

I really need someone to come out here to SE PA and teach me how to hunt for Indian artifacts. There was a Lenni-Lenape camp here in town until about 1774 but I don't seem to have the eye for points or tools. Any volunteers? :P
