reproduction version of a cannon's friction-primer

Find these every once in a while a bit frustrating get the idea its something familiar but just can't quite place it. Anyone know what it was part of ?

Where are you hunting. Kind of look like a friction primer for muzzle loading cannons.

Very large yard, public area, could it possibly be from maybe civil war show re enactors ? They don't have much look of age to them.

It is indeed a cannon's copperbrass friction-primer... but it is a modern reproduction, made for use by civil war artillery re-enactors. Actual "Original" historical copperbrass friction-primers had a dome-shaped top. The reproduction version is a tube whose top is simply pinched shut. Compare the photos below. The black varnish, which is still visible on yours, helped seal the tube and its pull-wire connection.
