Wondering what this could be. I found it under the ball of a tree (literally) and about 4-6 inches in the ground. It's been flattened. It's approximately 2 inches long and maybe 3/4" wide with a decorative band and ribbing. Any ideas of what this is? Found it in the area of other Civil War items. That's a .69 Minie above it in the photo. Thanks for looking.

Man could be anything , Lip stick tube, etc.

Love the big 69 Don't find many in my area, Mostly .58 & .54,s.

I agreed with the lipstick tube theory. Those semi-flat toy lead/tin trees came in soldier sets from the 1880's-1920's! Sub 8-)

If it's cooper, maybe a wire splice \ connector of some kind. Just a guess

Thanks for the tree ID. We had thought it was early 1900s. Nice to know it could be earlier. It was shallow too.
