Greenie
River's been running low. I found this in the banks on a bend at a high shoal near a sunken dock of sorts. I also found pieces of sheet copper, the largest about 4x6 inches. At first I thought it was slag or a bit of solder that was maybe used as a fishing weight but getting home and looking at it I noticed how it has a triangular cross section to it with one side being a smooth curve and the other side looking like it had been chiseled in respects. I stuck it in clay to see how a mold would look if the piece is indeed a cast object as opposed to just slag. Notice how it has a raised centerline to it with two distinct edges. The overlapping stairstepped edge seems to come from tooling the inside of the mold as opposed to a built up flow of material with lobed drops as gravity would affect the molten material if it was a run of solder. If it is a flow of metal then why does it have that nice curve to it? Also would copper be used as a solder material to begin with?
Let me know what you guys think...in the mean time I'll be looking for that face on mars.
