The local park district was building a new girls softball field, they removed 12 inches of grass and dirt. I talked with the director of parks and recreation and was given permission to hunt the area they had been working on. I found a couple of dollars in clad but I also found this copper rock at about six inches deep (or roughly 18 inches from the surface). This natural copper rock weighs 6lbs. It is from either the Wisconsin or Illinoian Glacial Drift which brought copper to IL from the copper range in Michigan's Upper Penisula, which is hundreds of miles away.

The site thought you wrote *enis!!!!!!! Then deleted it.

I'm sorry, the rock is really cool man. :icon_thumleft:

It should read; Michigans Upper Peninsula

While out gold prospecting (dredging) in S. OH, I have found small copper nuggets that were brought down by the glaciers. Yours look bigger than mine, but I can't really tell. I know that some big copper nuggets have been found in IN from the glacial activity.

Keep swinging!
