🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Copper ring? Found at an english settler site with item dating from the late 1700s. Looking for more info.

I have found them over the years also ,mostly around very old settlements , often wondered if they wasn't from old surveyor chain or watch chain .

With it being thin copper, I can't imagine that it would be durable enough for them to use it as as a chain. I'm not an expert though.

I too have found plenty of them , some even had an asbestos inner core which led me to the spark plug gasket. they came in many sizes and the really old cars took some very large ones.

No cars at this site. This place is out in the sticks. If I showed you more of my finds from the site, you would understand.

Could well be a copper alloy finger ring. Some of the 18th century rings were quite thin and rather flimsy.
