Copper Pocket Watch thingy

Found this today in a bottle dump, its shaped like a pocket watch but its flat and has little tabs on it, any ideas on what it is?

How big is it? You need to stick something in your pics to let us know the size. Could be the face cover off an old walll clock? JIM

sorry about that, lost the ruler lol Its the size of an old pocket watch...

Well, then it wouldn't be a wall clock! May just be part of the face of a pocket watch. Did you recheck the hole to see if any more of it was there? JIM

It wasnt really in a hole, it was in the bottle dump, if you havent seen one before its just random items strewn across an area, so it was only under an inch or so of dirt...but i did check around it
