Saturday DeArmitt and I hit the 1797 Tavern. Not Much was happening for me. I couldn't get a good signal to save my bass :D and I was digging all the crappy ones too. DeArmitt however got a 1826 Largie and what may be one of those Irish half pennys. You can't see much on the second copper.
Today we tried a Field that has hosted Native Americans, Forbes Troops from the French and Indian War, and Washington's troops for the Whiskey Rebellion. The field was recently plowed and it rained a bit a couple of days ago. Although a bit muddy the Points really stood out. DeArmitt found a Musketball right on the surface, what is left of an old spoon and a broken point. I ended up with 6 points. I didn't think I was going to find any Musketballs but manged two after a couple of hours hunting. I also got a 12-41 reading on the E-Trac with a target just under the surface. Turned out to be a George ? Copper. Any of the Coppers I've gotten out of that field have really been beat. Too many years of farming and fertilizer I guess.

vERY NICE! I love the points. It's funny how we tend to forget the thousands of years of history before the "colonial" coin.

very nice finds. i used to walk for miles as a kid to look for arrowheads, way before having a detector. sweet to combine the pursuits.
sweet coppers, too.

Hey Bedford Bob,
You guys did alright. I like finding those lg. cents. and musket balls.

I found some copper today also.
check out my post.
We'll have to get together sometime with Mach 1 and dig some good stuff again.

A good day. I hunted a 1700's tavern Saturday myself. I got few relics.

Looks like you guys had some fun... :icon_thumright:

But maybe you should tell DeArmitt to get a new pair of pants for the next picture.... :laughing9:

Next weekend we will have to get the gang together for a good relic hunt. :)
