Copper in the Silver halves

Never,
Although the price of copper has risen, it will likely always be low relative to silver.

Currently per coinflation.com:
Copper is about $4 a pound (25 cents a oz)
Silver is about $41 an oz.
(Therefore silver is 164 times more valuable than copper.)
A 40% silver kennedy has $6.12 of silver and 6 cents of copper.
Even if the prices of precious and base metal continues to rise. The melt value of the copper in a 40% Kennedy will continue to be insignificant compare to silver. Only if the price of copper were to rise with the price of silver holding still or falling.

Ok.

But my question is: "How long do you think it will be before the COPPER in your 40%ers is valuable, RELATIVE TO YOUR BUDGET."

In other words, I know that copper will never be worth as much as silver, but don't you think that one day, the melt value will include the price of the copper as well, when copper becomes far more valuable than it is today?

Right around the time that the US removes all copper from coins and the half dollar is withdrawn from circulation. Then we'll be CRHing for the old clad coins.

That would be hilarious, actually looking for that horrible Copper color we all hope is Silver instead.

mind = blown, imagine hunting for old "copper" coins... probably gonna be 60 years or so before that will happen

I think the more relevant question is how long before the copper in pre-82 cents is worth more than (common) wheats...
