Hello Everyone,
Grabbed these items at a Church Sale, a buck apiece.
The blue one is stamped 'Peacock' on bottom, some hand etching on the 'nickel' trim.
the inlays on finial and hinge cover are interesting.
Believe it's a 20th century porcelain on steel India/China item.
I am most interested in the copper item,
Missing Handle :'( (at least someone used copper wire to secure the cover)
It is about 4 inches in height, seems to show some hammer marks.
What intrigues me are the base markings. 'I, 26, and the 'Germanic' Eagle.
Though this type of eagle is on some early US military buttons, I refer to it as Germanic.
It's construction, markings, and 'scallop' inside the cover lead me to believe it may be quite old, possibly Colonial.
there is not much info I can find about early copper hallmarks.
Information about early copper construction, and marks, especially any leading to a date, or area of manufacture for this piece would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking, & happy Hunting to All :hello:

Very interesting "church finds" Herbie!

The blue porcelain enameled tea pot stylistically looks to be East Indian or Pakistani in origin. It's a very decorative tea pot.

My first impression of the copper jug is that it's either Dutch or German. The eagle is certainly indicative of Germany; I just don't know if the Germans favoured working with copper as much as the Dutch did. I've owned a number of silver on copper 18th century drinking mugs over the years and your piece has the look of serious age to it!

Take care,
Dave
