copper coins

is there anyway to make old brown copper coins look like new ones?

I can say that an unstripped copper is more desirable than one that has been stripped of color. If you do want to do it anyways, a dipping solution can be purchased at any coin shop.

I am a professional numismatist, and without exception, advise against this. The coins end up being viewed as having an unnatural color to collectors. When we do get those kinds of coins brought in, we reject them as being unsell-able. (If it's a rare one, we may buy it... at a greatly reduced price, and they sit in inventory a long time.) There are people who can strip and re-tone copper. They keep the secrets close to cuff and it is an artificial process that can age poorly or be easily discovered with just a test or two. Leave the brown alone with maybe an oil soak (Blue Ribbon) and gentle wipe.

It is what it is and if the coins are smooth and uniform brown, very desirable to all except the UNC/RED only collectors. Percentage wise, few set collectors fall into this lofty category because of the sheer expense with the older ones.
