Found this one in the woods today, its copper and pretty big. It looks old and its had a weird round rim thingy.. (sorry don't know how to say it in english..)

Any idea what it could be ? I was thinking of a copper flat button..

I would say more likely brass than copper. Coat size flat button, 1810-1840ish is my guess.

Sorry the third pic didn't load, the weird part is it has a protuberance on both sides..

Thanks for the info !

I would agree. Most likely a brass flat button. You can see the spot where the shank used to be.

Yes I hope so, but in the last photo you can see that on both side of the 'button' it looks like ghere used to be a shank.. Any explenation for that ??

I really want it to be a old button, but I want to be sure before I put a pice of thrash in my collection...

It could just be an imperfection in the button or the remnants of some sort of decoration. Many old flat buttons had a decorative pattern and there were many varieties. This one goes in your keeper pile, not the trash.
