Found this unknown copper piece at the site today I got the gilt buttons and 1723 KGI Halfpenny. The newest item I found digging today that can possibly date the latest the site was used was a rotted lid to an early type mason jar. So I think the homestead was abandoned around the end of the 19th century.
I did not notice the scaled numbers 0-24 in increments of 4 till I got home. I have not idea what this was part of.

I've got one identical to yours sitting on my desk, mine is complete.
yours is the face plate to a hanging scale rated in lbs.

Looks like part of an old fish scale to me. It's missing the hook and the arrow. The fish would hang on the hook and pull the arrow down to the weight. Not very accurate I'm sure.

Faceplate to a scale makes sense to me, I will guess the age of this one to be mid to late 1800's, unless a hunter had one in his pocket and lost it. ::)
