I found this item this past weekend and thought it was all iron due to the build up that was on it. But after cleaning I saw a little green tint showing through the rust on one end. After 30 minutes of electrolysis, this is what came out. I found one just like it a couple of years ago but never could figure out what it was, so I chunked it in the trash. One end has a round flat copper disk thats the size of a penny and the other end has a sharp point on the back as if it could be hammered into something. If you've got a clue what it might be, let me know.

Hey, RickyP!!

I'm not sure what you have there, but would a little more electrolysis do some good? Sometimes I have to do hours of it to find out what I have.

Good to see you posting!!!

Hiya Noodle,

It would probably do some good to clean it a little longer, but it was really starting to eat away at the copper so I shut it down.

Clueless lack of knowlege on my part . Wondering if it was wooden handled on the sharp end to insulate heat and coppered on the other end to hold heat as in soldering or sealing wax ...

Broken part of a door stop? The kind that would attach to a door and drop down to hold it open.
