Copper and clay pipe?

Hollow Copper pipe part is exactly 1.5 inches long, .442 diameter at the biggest end. There is a clay insert in one end with no holes. inside the tube is threaded at the open end. There is a screen mesh like filter inside the pipe near the clay insert end. I shattered the clay piece trying to take it apart. I found about 12 of these in my yard. Any idea what they are?

inclined to say its a tool or a charge
As to the clay issue, is there soft clay where you are
IS the clay hard and fired or soft
Beware, it may not be clay but a detonation material
Maybe fuses

One-hitters are not made from copper. Brass, stainless and aluminum are the most often used metals.

Reminds me of a tire valve extension.
Can't explain the clay, and, instead of a screen, it would have a small spring inside.
Any history of a tire shop in this area ?

Maybe it is some kind of heating element.

Having a screen inside and being about the size of I/4" pipe, and if the clay material was actually porous ceramic, I would say that it may be a filter or sprayer of sorts. I run across all kinds of fuel filters on the antique engines that I collect.
