Today my buddy came up to me at work and said he needed to show me something cool he found while duck hunting. He produced a Large, thick porcelain disk about 8 inches across. It said Edison at the top and Primary Battery. It has patent dates and Thomas Edison's full name twice in other places. He found it sticking halfway out of the ground halfway up a steep embankment beside the railroad. Apparently it is the top to a large signal battery once used by the railroad. We found that the manufacturing facility located in Orange New Jersey that's on it burned down in 1911 so this thing is at least that old. It's very cool. I got a pic on my iPhone and will get one up soon. Alas, he wouldn't sell it to me but I'm gonna go to the area where he found it and see if I can't find another one.
