Searched an old homestead site on a nearby big farm. Its just pasture now and the ground is packed hard from all the cows.

We did find some pretty cool stuff. We dug tons of iron. Big plow heads, pieces of cast iron wood stoves, hand forged chain, harmonica reeds, horse tack- Not a single old coin though

Heres a couple of the more interesting find.

Mrs McCormicks Beauty Rouge- has small mirror inside. - Can any tell me anything about when this was made?

I had no clue what this was when I dug it, it looks like a cattle eartag, but its copper. It says "Compliments of Stacy Allen Co Brockton Mass."
Turns out that is a shoe company founded in 1875 and still in business. Finally it hit me, its an old Shoe Horn! I wonder when this one was made being copper

Also dug into what must have been a trash pit. Lots of broken pottery/bottle/misc metal. I REALLY wish this moonshine jug was whole. We only scratched the surface of this spot, I didn't want to dig a giant hole in the middle of the guys pasture, but Im REALLY wanting to dig it out more and see what I can find.

Nice finds nathan104. Hey, I would contact the "Stacy Allen Co" and see if they could help date that puppy...

Cool variety! :wav: Love the rouge compact, amazing it's in perfect condition! My guess is early 1900's, before 1930.

HAVE FUN! Andi

Nice finds! Sounds like you will be busy digging that site, best of luck!
