Not exactly sure what this is. Thinking some kind of garment piece. Still working on the ID. If any of you have an Idea [emoji362] I’m all ears.

I think I did a pretty good job on a fast restoration. It’s conserved with Paraloid B27. I love the second part when it comes to detecting and that’s the restoring and conservation part. It’s really fun and rewarding.

You are correct, from a cloak, 1600-1700s,
 

I do think its a cloak clasp as well but mid-19th C.
 

Wow! whenever I try to unfold the pieces I find they tend to crumble. The soil around here is like battery acid.

I use a bit of heat and a lot patience. Very slowly or it will break. Heat works well but you need to be careful or the patina will start to break off.

Experience and lots of practice on crappy finds helps
 

I would never have believed how well you ironed out the folds! Excellent!
