I am sure they are natural lots of neat looking rocks in the area they are on a shoal on Trinity River on private property. Thanks for the reply.

Hey dadzilla, we find some very similar in the creeks, & coal mines in the area, I was told that the soft inside was used for indian warpaint, when wet it works very well, (tried it on my kids & Grandkids lol), also some of our fossil wood has it in the center core, HH, Fossis.......................

That's sounds like my kids as well. We also occasionally find sand nodules as a kid I would use them for slingshot ammo they are brown rough stone filled with dry sand .
