I was thinking it kinda looks like a cherry blossom shape and wasn't sure if symbols in center were Japanese or Chinese.

I'll bet the church you searched at one time was used as a Korean christian church or some Korean christian missionary's had visited that church? The reason I believe that is one of my daughters was in 4-H, they'd meet in an old church in the country and some of the old folding chairs had Asian writing on the back of some. I asked someone about it and they told me the old church was used as a Korean church in the 1960's. This symbol I'm posting is a sign of Korean Christians for grace and peace in Christ. It is the same colors in the image of a apple or cherry blossom?, but has a hart with cross in the center instead. I'm not all that sure, but feel I'm getting close on this mystery item. I think if you could translated the writing on the center of your pin, that may solve the mystery of your find. It looks like many type pins made of brass and real fired on enamel. I think that would give it an age of before the 1970's. ?? Newer label pins are not made as well in detail today in the same way as in the past.

I think Tamrock is on to something. If you combine his flower with the Korean flag 'triple bars' and the colors from both, plus the info about the Korean church, I think you're extremely close to your ID.

Thanks guys, and gals....always interesting to dig into the details of an item. Guess I'll have to see what else was at that Church.

I don't read Korean, but here's an alphabet chart:

A pic of the back would be best and its always standard procedure to give the readers a chance at proper ID. Age can be determined by the hasp or hasp connections although it pretty much looks modern. Is it pot metal or brass? Can you...(if you refuse to post a pic of the back), can you look closely for markings and tell us the type of metal?

Note rule #1 http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/136849-please-read-before-posting-items-what.html

thanks

I don't refuse to post a pic of anything....not a whole lot going on back there. It appears to be brass.

I guess I was a little harsh but it irks me when we have to keep asking for a pic of the backsides. Thanks for posting.

There is a whole lot going on and a lot to be learned from this pic. I no longer think its modern and yes it appears to be brass. Maybe someone can date the closure.

No problem, no offense taken...haven't found many pins so I was mainly looking for markings on the backside.

Yea too bad there are no markings. But I have seen many times were markings are not visible to the naked eye but are later seen in the backside picture after its posted. Its true.
