Cool find

I found this walking the river bank. I’ve found quarts before but this thing is beyond clear can anyone tell what it is? I can post more pictures if needed thanks for looking

It's either really fine quartz, or glass. If you have a magnifying glass, see if there are any specks included. If so, quartz.

If that picture is of the item dry, I would take it to a jeweler. Due to the black carbon specs on the inside and what I think may be worn out crystal structure and if found in Michigan there is an OUTSIDE CHANCE it is an alluvial diamond, come down with the glaciers from Canada. It is NOT likely, but I'd go get it checked.

I agree with both Kray and smokey. Take it in and have a jeweler have a look at it. Interesting find

I took it to a jewelry store passed it to the lady working she says it looks like a stone. I explain I found it and was told I might want to have someone take a look. She said it would have to be sent in to a gemologist to find out what it was. I got her to use her diamond tester and it didn’t do anything. That being said it went from my pocket to her hand so I know it had to be pretty warm idk how much that matters. I’ve found my share of beach and river glass it’s never polished like this smooth but cloudy looking. Must be something harder than glass or I’d think it would have that same dull finish from rolling down the river.

Quartz can polish up pretty good under the right circumstances, topaz to however it usually has a dull sheen dry. Could still be a bit of glass. You can try hardness and sg tests as well. Let us know what you find out.

So I held a lighter to it for 30 seconds and dropped it in a glass of water. Cracked it up pretty good looks like it was glass.
